ECTFE is a fluoropolymer produced as a copolymer of ethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylene. As a copolymer, it combines the chemical inertness and non-stick properties characteristic of the fluoropolymer family with higher mechanical strength, abrasion resistance and impact toughness than pure PTFE, while maintaining very low permeability to gases and liquids.
ECTFE operates reliably across a wide temperature range, from cryogenic conditions down to -76°C through to a continuous operating temperature of approximately +150°C. It maintains its mechanical and chemical properties consistently across this range, making it suitable for both structural and lining applications.
ECTFE’s exceptionally low permeation rate, combined with strong resistance to acids, bases, solvents and oxidising agents, makes it a preferred material for barrier coatings, vessel linings and components exposed to aggressive and high-purity process media. Its radiation resistance further extends its use into semiconductor and pharmaceutical environments.
Stronger and more abrasion-resistant than pure PTFE, suitable for structural and lining applications.
Operational range of approximately -76°C to +150°C, including cryogenic environments.
Very low permeability to gases and liquids, ideal for barrier coatings and vessel linings.
Resistant to a broad range of acids, bases, solvents and oxidising agents.
Low coefficient of friction and non-stick surface behaviour consistent with the fluoropolymer family.
Stable properties under prolonged outdoor exposure and UV radiation.
