ABS as supplied by COMCO EPP is a purpose-prepared material for prototype design and model production. The key differentiator is the tempering process applied during manufacture. Residual internal stress, which is present in standard extruded ABS sheets, is fully eliminated through this process.
For engineering departments, model shops and product development teams that produce prototype components, jigs, fixtures and design models, these properties are directly relevant. Machining stress-free ABS produces cleaner results, tighter tolerances and a better surface finish than standard ABS sheet, and the material behaves consistently across the full thickness range from 10 to 200 mm.
ABS is easy to process across all standard machining operations including CNC milling, turning and drilling. It is available in natural and black as standard and in other colours on request. All ABS sheets are produced to order across a range of sheet formats and thicknesses. Rods, blanks and finished parts are also available to your drawings and specifications.
Unique tempering process completely eliminates internal residual stress, preventing distortion during and after machining
Consistent, predictable performance across CNC milling, turning and drilling operations
Machined parts hold their dimensions accurately after cutting without warping or movement
Low tool wear and clean chip formation across standard machining operations
Available from 10 to 200 mm, suitable for large prototype blocks and deep-machined components
Supplied in various sheet formats and sizes to match specific prototype and model production requirements
High-Performance Engineering Plastics
Available in 3000x625 mm base format across thicknesses from 10 to 200 mm. Cut formats of 600x1200 mm, 1000x1200 mm and 1200x2400 mm available. All dimensions produced to order.
Sawn or cut blanks to your near-net dimensions, reducing material waste and machine time for prototype production.
Custom cut to your exact dimensions from standard sheet stock.
CNC-machined parts and prototype components to your technical drawings in natural or black ABS.
The primary application for ABS in this grade. Engineering departments and model shops use stress-free ABS sheets and blocks to machine accurate prototype components, design models and concept parts before committing to production tooling.
ABS blocks are machined into jigs, fixtures and assembly aids where dimensional accuracy, light weight and ease of modification are required during product development phases.
Used for physical design models and presentation prototypes where a clean surface finish, accurate dimensions and the ability to paint, bond or coat the material are required.
ABS blocks are used in pattern making for casting and forming processes, where the accuracy and machinability of the material allow precise patterns to be produced quickly.
Used for short-run development tooling and soft tooling applications where a machinable, dimensionally stable plastic is required as an alternative to aluminium or steel tooling at lower cost and lead time.
Machined ABS components are used for fit, form and function testing in product development where the mechanical and dimensional characteristics of the prototype need to closely represent the final design.
