EI is an amorphous high-performance thermoplastic that combines high heat resistance with extraordinary dielectric properties and excellent resistance to steam and water vapour. Its continuous operating temperature of 170°C covers the majority of high-temperature industrial applications, and its dielectric performance remains stable across a wide range of temperatures and frequencies, making it the preferred choice for electrical insulating components and microwave-exposed parts.
As an amorphous thermoplastic, PEI differs fundamentally from semi-crystalline materials such as PEEK or PA6C. Amorphous plastics do not have a defined crystalline structure, which gives them uniform optical properties and consistent behaviour in machining.
PEI is available in sheets and round bars in natural (semi-transparent amber) and black. It is supplied in standard stock and made-to-order formats across a full range of thicknesses and diameters.
Continuous operating temperature of 170°C with reliable mechanical and dielectric performance
Stable electrical insulating properties across a wide temperature and frequency range
Suitable for components in steam jet cleaning, autoclaving and high-humidity environments
Classified as non-flammable without flame-retardant additives
Amorphous structure gives natural PEI a semi-transparent amber appearance for visual inspection applications
Consistent amorphous structure results in reliable CNC turning, milling and drilling performance
High-Performance Engineering Plastics
1250x620 mm format in thicknesses 10 to 50 mm available as standard stock. 1000x610 mm format in thicknesses 6 to 50 mm available as made to order.
Solid bars from 6 to 80 mm diameter in 1000 mm and 3000 mm lengths. Full range in standard stock.
Sawn or cut blanks to near-net dimensions for precision machined components and insulating parts.
CNC-machined parts to your technical drawings. Note: corners and edges should be rounded in design to avoid cracking and chipping during machining.
The core application for PEI. Used for electrical insulators, carrier plates, housings and structural insulating parts in electrical and electronic equipment where stable dielectric performance at elevated temperatures is required.
PEI's dielectric properties and transparency to microwave radiation make it suitable for structural and functional components in microwave processing equipment, industrial heating systems and laboratory microwave applications.
Applied in components within glass manufacturing equipment where high operating temperatures, mechanical stability and resistance to thermal cycling are required in close proximity to molten glass processes.
PEI's high steam and water vapour resistance makes it a reliable material for components in steam jet cleaning equipment and sterilisation systems where repeated exposure to high-temperature steam is unavoidable.
Used for heat insulating components, hose fittings and structural parts in high-temperature fluid handling systems where both thermal resistance and a non-flammable classification are required.
Applied in semiconductor processing equipment, precision instruments and industrial apparatus where stable performance at elevated temperatures and good dielectric properties are required over long service periods.
